Sea-ya-ttle

My first time in the Pacific Northwest was one for the books. I had just worked a four-day with two fellow new hires and we all ended up on the same Seattle trip. In the airline industry, it’s very common to click super well with your coworkers.. and then never see them again. Lucky for us, we were able to work back to back trips together.

We woke up early and hit the market before it officially opened, which is something I HIGHLY recommend. We were able to take our time and see what the vendors had before the crowds hit. I went back in the afternoon, and it was less than pleasant.

For breakfast, we went local with Biscuit Bitch. The staff is paid to be a little rude but the food makes up for it. I ordered the Egg & Cheese Bitchwich with an order of the Veggie patties and a coffee. 8/10, would go again and try something else.

We also spent an absurdly long time at the Gum Wall. It’s a little hidden, but it’s downstairs and to the left (if you’re looking at the water) of the market. There’s a corner store you can buy bubble gum for optimal photo opportunities.

One of the fun things about this trip is I was able to meet up with one of my best friends who happened to be in the PNW visiting family. We decided to meet at the Space Needle since neither of us had visited it before. People said it’s not worth it and it’s a tourist trap. It was a little pricey but I’d recommend it if you’ve never been. The panoramic views are incredible, and again, worth it if you’ve never been.

A few other noteworthy things: the market has insanely beautiful flowers. I was able to buy a huge bouquet for $10 and bring it back on the plane. The market also has pretty much anything you can think of. I bought some fresh fruit – some of it unique to the PNW – and I some vegan pasta for my mom. The ORIGINAL Starbucks is on the same street as the market, not up the road like Google says. It was cool. I got a mug for my collection, but other than that it’s crowded so not worth too much time spent there. Where you do want to visit is the Starbucks Reserve. Try the Espresso Martini. You won’t regret it.

  1. We love Seattle! Did you see the flying fish at Pikes Market? That’s where we order Copper River Salmon from every May!

    You have the best job!!!
